Vol. 361 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Station at Donaghmede (Dublin).

20.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will establish a Garda station in Donaghmede, Dublin 13, in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick East): As I indicated in reply to previous parliamentary questions on the subject of establishing a Garda station at Donaghmede, a number of measures have been taken in recent years to improve the policing arrangements for the area. These measures include a substantial increase in Garda strength at Coolock station, revised rostering arrangements and the introduction of 24 hour opening at the two other stations in Coolock Garda District — Malahide and Swords — which reduced the demands on Coolock station. The situation is at present under review by the Garda authorities in the light of these developments and I expect to have a report and recommendation from the Commissioner on the question of a Garda station for Donaghmede within the next few months.
