asked the Minister for Energy if he has had an investigation carried out into the feasibility of transporting compressed natural gas by road and rail tankers for those areas not served by the pipelines.

BGE is at present designing a pilot project to test the feasibility of supplying compressed natural gas to areas where piped gas supplies are not available. When the project has been run and the economics and technical features evaluated, its relevance to isolated towns-industries in Ireland will be assessed.
