At 31 December 1984, the latest date for which statistics are available in my Department, the total number of approved applicants on waiting lists for local authority housing in the greater Dublin area was 6,604.
In 1982, when the relevant date for the compilation of these statistics was 31 October 1982, the corresponding figure was 8,887.
