Vol. 361 No. 4

Written Answers. - Transfer of Milk Quotas.

109.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the present position in regard to the proposed regulation requiring farmers who want to change from one creamery to another to give 12 months notice of their intention to transfer.

From 1 April 1986 transfers of milk quotas arising from suppliers moving from one purchaser to another will be allowed only on 1 April each year (except in exceptional circumstances where there is agreement between both purchasers). Furthermore, such transfers will take place only where the suppliers involved have, before 31 December of the previous year, notified their existing and prospective new purchasers in writing of their intention to transfer.

A provision to cover these arrangements will be included in statutory regulations on the super levy system, which will be made shortly.
