Vol. 361 No. 4

Written Answers. - Common Agricultural Policy.

110.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he considers it appropriate, in view of the changes taking place in the Community farm policy, to devise a plan of campaign stating the Irish position on the CAP vis-à-vis the development of Irish farming.

It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to the Perspectives for the Common Agricultural Policy publshed by the EC Commission in July. The publication is a discussion document only and consultations are at present taking place on it at both Community and national levels. No overall substantive proposals arising from the document are expected to emerge from the Commission before mid-December. As far as the Irish attitude is concerned this will be determined having regard to the outcome of contacts which are currently taking place with all the interested parties.
