Vol. 361 No. 4

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

132.

asked the Minister for Labour when redundancy payments will be made to the former employees of Keenan Brothers Limited, Bagenalstown, County Carlow.

The employees concerned have been paid their statutory redundancy entitlements from the Redundancy and Employers' Insolvency Fund. However, the liquidator of the company has recently submitted applications to my Department under the Protection of Employees (Employers' Insolvency) Act, 1984, for funds to pay the former employees their outstanding entitlements in respect of wages, holiday pay and minimum notice awards. These applications are being processed by my Department and I would hope that the funds necessary to pay the employees concerned will be issued to the liquidator within about a fortnight.
