Vol. 361 No. 5

Written Answers. - Meeting at UN General Assembly.

13.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the bilateral meetings he had at the United Nations General Assembly; and the topics discussed.

In the course of my visit to the United Nations General Assembly from 22 to 27 September, in addition to meetings with European Community colleagues, I had meetings with the Foreign Ministers of: China, Cyprus, German Democratic Republic, Great Britain, Israel, Morocco, Nicaragua and Yugoslavia. I also met with the Minister of State for External Affairs of India. In addition, I met with the United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Perez de Cuellar.

The discussions in each case covered a range of international issues and questions of mutual concern. I also availed of the opportunity which these meetings provided to brief the Secretary General and the representatives of the various Governments in regard to Northern Ireland. I also attended a meeting of UNIFIL troop contributors which was chaired by the Norwegian Foreign Minister.
