Vol. 361 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

53.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a £1,000 new house grant and a £3,000 mortgage subsidy has been refused in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick in view of the fact that he purchased a new house that had never been previously occupied.

This application for a new house grant and mortgage subsidy was refused because the house in question had previously been sold by the builder to another family, who, in turn, subsequently sold it to the person named. The house must, therefore, be regarded as a secondhand house for new house grant and mortgage subsidy purposes.

54.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will receive his reconstruction grant applied for at the end of August 1985.

An inspection with a view to the approval of a grant will be carried out in this case as soon as possible and the applicant will be notified of the position. The question of the payment of a grant does not, accordingly, arise at this stage.

55.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will expedite the payment of a mortgage subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and when it is hoped to issue the £1,000 cheque due.

The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy, amounting to £1,000, was paid recently in this case.

56.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A new house grant was rejected in this case because the floor area of the house is in excess of the maximum allowable for grant purposes that is 125 square metres (1346 square feet). Following the receipt of further information, the file has again been referred to my Department's inspector for investigation and report.
