Vol. 361 No. 5

Written Answers. - Medical Card Eligibility.

93.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5 was refused medical card services when she was only in receipt of unemployment assistance at the rate of £21.75; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Eligibility for a medical card is determined solely by the chief executive officer of a health board. Accordingly, in this instance, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, Eastern Health Board, with a request that the board examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy, as a matter of urgency.
