Vol. 361 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kilcock Post-Primary School.

183.

asked the Minister for Education the current position with regard to the planning of the proposed new post-primary school for Kilcock, County Kildare; the number of remaining planning and design stages to be overcome before clearance is given for contract stage; when it is likely that the project will go to contract; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

184.

asked the Minister for Education when it is likely that she will be able to provide the promised co-educational post-primary school at Kilcock, County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 183 and 184 together. An outline sketch scheme for the proposed extension to the Presentation Convent school building to provide a single co-educational school for Kilcock has been submitted by the school authorities and is at present being examined in my Department. It is expected that this examination will be completed in the near future and my Department will then be in contact with the school authorities. The remaining stages of the planning process are:

1. Preparation of detailed sketch scheme;

2. Preparation of working drawings;

3. Preparation of bills of quantities;

4. Invitation of tenders;

5. Placing of contract.

Pending the completion of the planning stages, I am not in a position to say when the contract for this project will be released to tender.
