Vol. 361 No. 13

Written Answers. - Health Boards Revenue.

56.

asked the Minister for Health the total revenue this year collected by health boards from the imposition of the levy on consultants using hospital services for private patients.

The estimated yield to health boards in 1985 from contributions by consultants for the use of public facilities in the treatment of their private patients was £423,000. The matter of liability for such contributions, in so far as it relates to consultants employed by health boards, has been referred to the Local Government Staff Negotiations Board and, pending the outcome, health boards have not pursued the collection of contributions to date.
