Vol. 361 No. 13

Written Answers. - Dental Treatment.

59.

asked the Minister for Health when payment towards the cost of dentures under the dental benefit scheme will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person in question holds a medical card and is also eligible for dental treatment under the Department of Social Welfare's treatment benefit scheme. The Western Health Board has for the present suspended the provision of dental treatment for adults through the ad hoc dental scheme and has advised the person in question to seek treatment under the social welfare scheme. The health board is not in a position at present to refund the portion of the cost to be borne by the patient when availing of the social welfare scheme but will consider the question of a refund when funds become available.
