Vol. 362 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Curriculum and Examinations Board Recommendations

8.

asked the Minister for Education the number of one day in service courses to be held at primary level to discuss the recommendations of the curriculum board; and if there are any plans for more extensive courses to bring about the implementation of the recommendations.

There are at the present no proposals to hold one day in service courses at the primary level specifically to discuss the recommendations of the Curriculum and Examintions Board.

The papers on various aspects of the school curriculum, which have been published by the board, are discussion documents, and these were suggested as appropriate background reading material in connection with some 100 one day seminars recently conducted by my Department's inspectors in relation to the teaching of Irish in national schools.

I have not received any recommendations from the board in connection with the primary schools curriculum so the question of implementation does not arise at this stage.
