Vol. 362 No. 9

Written Answers. - Ambulance Service.

101.

asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 13 in receipt of an invalidity pension who suffered a massive stroke about three months ago and was receiving constant medical care at the out-patients clinic at Blanchardstown Hospital, and from whom ambulance service was withdrawn, will have this transport restored to him immediately as his state of incapacity and paralysis renders him unfit to travel on public transport and his income renders him financially unable to discharge the cost of any alternative form of transport; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An ambulance service has been provided for this person in the past but the Eastern Health Board has no request from the person at present for transport facilities. In the Eastern Health Board area non-emergency transport is not normally provided for persons attending hospital for physiotherapy but if there is medical evidence of hardship the board will investigate the possibility of providing a service.
