The Control of Bulls for Breeding Act, 1985, will come into force as soon as the necessary preparations have been made and a commencement order and regulations have been drafted. It is envisaged that the regulations will provide that, for a period of three years, beef suckler herd-owners with 20 cows or less may use, under permit, good quality non-pedigree beef bulls which have passed inspection.
