Vol. 363 No. 12

Written Answers. - Expenditure on Foreign Travel.

109.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of foreign trips undertaken by him, his Minister of State and his staff in 1985; the destination, purpose and cost of each trip; and if he can estimate the cost of official trips in 1986.

There would be a disproportionate expenditure of public resources involved in compiling the information in the wide ranging detail sought by the Deputy. I do not consider the cost would be justified. However, the total expenditure on foreign travel charged to the Labour Vote in 1985 was £181,421. A sum of £73,706 was recouped from the EC during 1985 in respect of such travel. The provision for foreign travel in 1986 is £190,000
