Vol. 363 No. 15

Written Answers. - Staff Transfers.

32.

asked the Minister for the Public Service the number of civil servants at present seeking a transfer to the Mayo region; the number of persons and their grades that have been transferred to the Mayo area in the past three months; the number of proposed transfers for the next three months; and if he can say from which Department lists the vacancies in the immediate future will be filled.

The majority of applicants for transfer to centres outside Dublin are from staff in the clerical grades and are processed in accordance with arrangements settled at general council under the conciliation and arbitration scheme.

Applications by civil servants for such transfer are under the agreed arrangements dealt with by their own Departments and records of the total numbers are not kept by my Department. I am, therefore, in a position to indicate only the number of applications, for transfer to County Mayo, made by staff in my Department and the Office of the Civil Service Commission. Two such applications for transfer to County Mayo have been made, both in my Department.

No staff have been transferred to County Mayo in the past three months from the Department of the Public Service or from the office of the Civil Service Commission. It is not possible for me to indicate whether transfers can be arranged in the next three months nor which Departments may have vacancies in the immediate future.
