Vol. 364 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Telephone Unit.

217.

asked the Minister for Education in the event of principals of primary schools needing to make contact with his Department for the purpose of making inquiries or seeking information, if a special section will be set up with staff assigned for answering such queries so that persons making such inquiries would not find themselves being passed from one section to another with no continuity of telephone conversations.

It would not be practicable to set up a special unit within the Department to deal with telephone inquiries. Every effort is made (by my Department) to ensure that all such inquiries are dealt with as helpfully as possible. All correspondence bears the telephone and extension numbers and the name and rank of the signing official.
