Vol. 364 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cabra (Dublin) Crime.

86.

asked the Minister for Justice if gardaí in the Cabra area of Dublin 7 can be assigned to deal with the problem (details supplied) which is a cause of great upset and fear to residents of the area.

The arrangements for the policing of individual areas are a matter for the Garda authorities. I am informed by the authorities that the Garda strength at Cabra station has been increased by five during the past few weeks. I am also informed that the problem referred to in the question has been the subject of discussions between the local gardaí and representatives of the local community and that the area in question is receiving particular attention by way of foot and mobile patrols. The local Garda officers are keeping the situation under review and they will continue to give the area as much attention as possible having regard to overall resources and other demands on Garda services.
