Vol. 364 No. 8

Written Answers. - Milk Quota Increase.

78.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if arrangements have been made for an increased milk quota for a person (details supplied) in County Meath, to allow him to continue with his development.

The supplier named was not eligible for either of the national reserves which I set up to grant additional quotas to special category producers. Therefore, unless he is in a position to lease or purchase land to which a quota is attached, additional quota can only be obtained by him on a year to year temporary basis from flexi-milk available within his co-operative.

Under the super-levy regulations, super-levy is not payable by a producer unless his co-operative exceeds its quota. I understand that this supplier's co-operatives did not exceed its quota in 1984-85 and is not currently expected to do so in 1985-86.
