Vol. 364 No. 8

Written Answers. - Capitation Grant.

90.

asked the Minister for Education if he is satisfied with the present system by which the capitation grant is administered in fee-paying schools; if he thinks that it is fairly allocated; if, in the light of the recent announcement, he proposes altering the present system; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As announced by the Minister for Education at a press briefing on budget day, the capitation grant which is currently paid by my Department to secondary schools will cease to be paid to the fee-paying schools as from the beginning of the 1986-87 school year. Subject to that change in the present system, I am satisfied that the system is equitable.
