Vol. 364 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 5, 1 and 20. By agreement, at the conclusion of business today, the Dáil shall adjourn until 12 noon, Wednesday, 19 March 1986.

Might I ask the Minister for Justice to outline what the requirements are in this country before people who apply for political asylum will be given refuge here? I am referring to the fact that two Ethiopians were deported back to their country.

The Deputy is not in order.

It is a disgrace——

The Deputy will have to find another way of raising it.

This is the second time this has happened. It is a disgrace that we cannot, as a civilised community, give refuge to political people who look for sanctuary in this country.

The Deputy is out of order.

I would like to know who we are offending in this regard.

The Deputy should not persist. He will have to find another way of finding it out. Are the arrangements for next week's sittings agreed? Agreed.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I wish to raise on the Adjournment the subject matter of Question No. 86 on Tuesday, 11 March 1986 relating to the allocation to voluntary hospitals.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the serious damage done recently to religious statues and property by a group of people in both counties Cork and Dublin, people who have indicated publicly that they will continue this activity.

Has the Deputy a request to make?

I have requested that you allow me to raise the matter on the Adjournment.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

Deputy Sheehan had better stay out of the way of statues lest they catch him.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment of the House the closure of MacCormac's factory in Killeshandra in County Cavan.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the matter of the future of the formerly owned IMP meat processing plant at Leixlip.

I will communicate with the Deputy.
