In line with established practice, the amount in the 1986 Estimates for housing subsidy covers balances due to local authorities from previous years and payments on account, pending subsequent verification of claims, of up to 90 per cent of the loan charges arising in 1986 in respect of borrowings for the provision of local authority housing.
