asked the Taoiseach the number of persons who were on the unemployment register on 1 April 1986; the equivalent figures for each of the years from 1981 to 1985, inclusive; if he will give a breakdown of those claiming unemployment benefit and unemployment assistance; and of those on the live register under 25 and under 20 for all those years.

(i) The following table shows the number of persons on the live register who are in receipt of unemployment benefit, unemployment assistance and signing for credited contributions at the end of March 1981 to 1986. The same information is also shown for persons under 25 years of age.

(ii) The only age breakdown available with the monthly live register relates to persons under 25 years of age. A special age analysis of the live register is carried out on a quarterly basis in respect of the second last Friday of January, April, July and October. This analysis classifies the number of persons on the live register into age groups and sex. The age groups shown are: Under 20 years, 20-24 years, 25-34 years, 35-44 years, 45-54 years, 55-59 years, 60-64 years. The following table shows the number of persons under 20 years on the live register at January 1981 to 1986.

asked the Taoiseach the number of unemployed persons on the live register for the following towns in County Cork: Kinsale, Bandon, Clonakilty, Dunmanway, Skibbereen, Bantry and Castletownbere, on 8 April in each of the years from 1983 to 1986, inclusive.

Live register figures are published for the last Friday of each month. The following table shows the number of persons on the live register at certain local employment offices in County Cork on the last Friday of March 1983 to 1986 inclusive.
