Vol. 365 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

82.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a decision will be made on the reconstruction grant application of a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and the reason for the delay in processing this application.

There has been no undue delay in dealing with this application. The applicant has been asked for further information, the receipt of which is now awaited.

83.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider an application for a tenant-purchaser £5,000 grant from a person (details supplied) in Dublin 17 who is only two years in tenancy and wants to buy a house in the private market urgently; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is a condition of the £5,000 surrender grant scheme that a local authority applicant must have at least three years continuous tenancy of a local authority house at the date of making application for the grant.

It is not possible to make exceptions to this requirement in relation to particular applications.

84.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will give approval for a new house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The need for prior inspection has been dispensed with in this case in accordance with the Minister's general announcement in the matter. Notification has issued to the applicant authorising him to proceed with the necessary works to the fabric of the house in respect of which his application was made, subject to the conditions of the scheme (other than the prior inspection) applicable when he applied. However, a grant cannot be allowed for the provision of a bedroom as a previous grant was paid in November 1983 and, accordingly, the required waiting period of seven years under the scheme has not elapsed.

85.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will reconsider the application for a house improvement grant made by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24 which has been refused.

The question of payment of a grant in this case cannot be reconsidered because, contrary to a statutory condition of eligibility under the scheme, work had commenced prior to an inspection of the house.

86.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a final inspection will be carried out and payment made in relation to a house improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

On receipt of notification of completion of works, an inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

87.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will pay a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

A new house grant was refused in this case because the floor area of the house is in excess of the statutory maximum allowable for grant purposes i.e. 125 square metres (1,346 square feet).

88.
