Vol. 365 No. 4

Written Answers. - Demolition of Buildings.

120.

asked the Minister for Finance if certain items (details supplied) were removed from a building in public ownership prior to its demolition; the value of these items; the amount paid for them; the procedures followed in the disposal of these items; and if he is satisfied that the correct procedures were followed in the disposal of these items; and if he is satisfied that the correct procedures were followed in this transaction.

In 1977 when it was decided to demolish the Papal Nunciature in the Phoenix Park the Papal Nuncio expressed a desire to acquire some items which could be used in the new Nunciature. In view of the particular circumstances some items of furniture, flooring and some fireplaces were sold to the Nuncio for £4,500 this being the agreed value of the items.

I am satisfied that the correct procedures were followed.
