Vol. 365 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin Armed Raids.

21.

asked the Minister for Justice the total number of armed raids in the Dublin area in the first quarter of 1986; the number of detections during the same period; and the total value, in cash and other goods, estimated to be involved.

In the three month period ended on 31 March 1986, a total of 165 armed robberies and armed aggravated burglaries were recorded by the Garda authorities in the Dublin metropolitan area, of which 12 have been detected so far. The total value of cash and other goods involved is estimated at approximately £860,000. It should, of course, be borne in mind that, as the period in question is so recent, the figure in relation to detection may tend to be misleading in the sense that it is to be expected that further detections will be made in relation to some of these crimes.
