asked the Minister for the Environment when it is proposed to make payment of final instalments of grants due to the Fintown water supply scheme, County Donegal.

My Department recently paid a grant instalment of £6,890 to the group, bringing total payments to date to £33,300. Donegal County Council have been requested to clarify the position in relation to certain group members to enable the final allocation to be prepared and outstanding grants paid to the group.

My Department have indicated to Galway County Council that I am prepared to approve a special contribution of £1,680 for increased pipe sizes in this scheme if the county council are willing to pay this amount to the group. asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection will take place on a house improvement grant application for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

This application received on 18 March 1986 related to the provision of a bathroom, bedroom extension and chimney. As the required waiting period of ten years had not elapsed since the payment of a new house grant for the house on 29 June 1976 a grant could not now be allowed for the bathroom and bedroom extension. Since there is an existing chimney in the house such a grant could not be considered in any case. The applicant has been so informed and has also been advised that, subject to the proposed works being deferred in the meantime, he may renew his application in respect of the bathroom and bedroom on the expiry of the waiting period.

The relevant file is with the inspector to establish whether the applicant is entitled to payment of the grant already approved under the 1981 scheme and also whether any grant can be approved under the 1985 scheme in respect of which a fresh application was furnished by him on 25 March 1986.
