Vol. 365 No. 7

Written Answers. - Garda Foot Patrols.

125.

asked the Minister for Justice if Garda foot patrols will regulary visit the senior citizens in the flats complex (details supplied) in Dublin 7, where they live in fear and isolation at night time; and in this context if the number of gardaí available to the Bridewell Garda station can be significantly increased as they have been under-manned for some considerable time.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the gardaí at the Bridewell station are aware of the anxieties of senior citizens residing in the area concerned and that members from the station visit them as often as practicable in the course of their duties.

I am informed also by the Garda authorities that more than 30 additional gardaí have been allocated to the Bridewell station over the past two years or so. Garda strength there is being kept under review.
