Maximum grants amounting to £1,000 in respect of the provision of a bathroom and a bedroom were approved in November 1983 under the previous house improvement grants scheme. The applicant has since exercised his option to apply to have his application considered under the 1985 scheme. To enable a grant under the latter scheme to be approved clarification has been sought from the applicant in relation to the execution of the works and his reply is awaited.

Separate applications for grants for reconstruction works and for the provision of sewerage facilities were received on 3 September 1976 and 18 January 1977 respectively. A sewerage grant was approved on 8 February 1977 and a reconstruction grant was approved on 15 March 1977. Neither of the grants could be paid because, contrary to a condition of the scheme, claims for payment were not received in the Department by 31 January 1980.
