Vol. 365 No. 11

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

34.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; when this will be paid, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record of the receipt in the Department of an application for a house improvement grant for the person named. However, an application was received on 8 April 1986 from a person with the same surname and from broadly similar address. In that case that relevant file has been referred to the Department's inspector with a view to the approval of a grant.

35.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the home improvement grant application made by a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

An inspection is being arranged with a view to approval of a grant.

36.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position with regard to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who applied six months ago for a house improvement grant to put in new windows; and if she has been approved for these works.

There is no record of the receipt in the Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

37.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and when the first instalment of a mortgage subsidy will be paid to him.

The grant will be paid within the next two weeks. Payment of the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be considered when 12 months repayments of the loan have been made and the appropriate claim form duly completed and certified by the relevant lending agency has been received.

38.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will expedite the issuing of the grant.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an application for a house improvement grant will be approved for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and when he will receive an estimate of the grant to which he was entitled, as the inspector visited the house more than two months ago.

While grants had been approved under the 1981 scheme of house improvement grants the person named exercised the option to have his application considered under the 1985 scheme. Under the conditions of the latter scheme an applicant who is a bona fide building contractor registered with the Revenue Commissioners may carry out improvement works to a dwelling in which he has a proprietary interest if the work is done entirely by his employer and details of each employee involved (including PRSI numbers) are submitted to the Department on completion of the works. On receipt from the applicant of either (a) confirmation that he wishes to carry out the works on the foregoing basis or (b) details of the name, address and tax numbers, of another contractor who will carry out the works, the question of grant approval under the current scheme will be further considered.
