asked the Minister for Communications if, with regard to section 9(7) of the Harbours Act, 1947, he will take the necessary action, i.e. issue a circular to the harbour authorities to enable them to up-date the implementation of section 9 and bring it into line with the procedures (details supplied) under sections 80, 67, and 80, of the Local Government Acts, 1941, 1946 and 1955, respectively, as has been recommended in submissions to his Department; and if he will make a statement in the matter.

Implementation of the proposal suggested by the Deputy would necessitate amending legislation. I do not see any pressing need for such an amendment at the present time.
