Vol. 366 No. 4

Written Answers. - Free Travel Scheme.

66.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will consider removing the time restrictions for free travel to veterans of the War of Independence.

The free travel scheme for veterans of the War of Independence is an extension of the scheme operated by the Department of Social Welfare and is subject to the same conditions and limitations as apply to the latter scheme. The Minister for Finance usually in the context of the annual budget, reviews as sympathetically as possible the facilities available under these schemes and decides whether any extensions can be granted.
