Vol. 366 No. 4

Written Answers. - Minister Travelling Expenses.

115.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if she will state in respect of each Minister of State in her Department, for the last year for which figures are available: the number of civilian drivers employed; the total cost of salaries paid to the drivers; the total cost of expenses paid to the drivers; and the total mileage allowance paid to the Minister of State in respect of the use of their own car.

If the Minister of State had been provided with an official car and driver in 1985 it is estimated that the cost would have been approximately £84,000. Due to the employment of a civilian driver savings of £70,000 approximately were made in 1985.
