Vol. 366 No. 8

Written Answers. - Accounting Procedures

159.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the procedures used for accounting to the Government, by each State board under his control; and if all of these are in keeping with modern accounting and reporting practices.

The reporting procedures for those State boards under the aegis of the Department of Agriculture are stipulated in the statutes setting up those bodies. For State bodies in receipt of grants-in-aid, the procedures governing those grants are stated in the Book of Estimates. Capital projects undertaken by State bodies under the public capital programme must be approved by my Department. All State bodies under my Department must submit their annual audited accounts to me and all procedures are monitored to ensure that the best practices are implemented in full.
