Vol. 366 No. 8

Written Answers. - Accounting Procedures.

177.

asked the Minister for Justice the procedures used for accounting to the Government by each State board under his control; and if all of these are in keeping with modern accounting and reporting practices.

The Legal Aid Board is the only board under my control operating a separate accounting system. Under the terms of the civil legal aid scheme the board maintains its accounts in a form which has been approved by the Minister for Justice with the consent of the Minister for Finance. The accounts are audited by the Comptroller and Auditor General and, together with his annual report, are laid before each House of the Oireachtas.
