Vol. 366 No. 8

Written Answers. - Accounting Procedures.

196.

asked the Minister for Education the procedure used for accounting to the Government, by each State board under his control; and if all of these are in keeping with modern accounting and reporting practices.

With regard to the bodies of this type for which I am responsible (The Higher Education Authority, The National Council for Educational Awards and the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies) the annual accounts, after audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General are, together with a copy of his report thereon, presented to the Government prior to being laid before each House of the Oireachtas.

The financial allocations to these institutions each year are determined on the basis of statements setting out estimated expenditure and receipts for the current year and projections for future years submitted in the context of the annual Estimates for the Public Services.
