Written Answers. - Dublin Schools.

asked the Minister for Education whether the meeting which was proposed to take place between the officials of his Department and the management authorities of a school (details supplied) in Dublin 1 took place; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The meeting referred to by the Deputy between officers of my Department and the authorities of the school referred to took place on 19 March 1986. Arising from this meeting, which clarified the scope of building works proposed at the school, my Department is now giving further consideration to the recommendations of its professional advisers regarding a scheme of improvements for which grant-aid is requested by the school authorities. My Department's decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible.

198.

asked the Minister for Education when he will agree to the final account and payment for a building contractor for the construction of a vocational school (details supplied) in County Dublin; and if he will expedite an interim payment in this regard.

The building unit approved the final account for the building contract on 10 April last. The balance of moneys outstanding relates to the fitted furniture and fittings component of the contract. The CEO of County Dublin VEC, is at present engaged in verifying with the design team the breakdown of the fitted furniture and fittings contract figure. A payment of £76,000 approximately has already been made in respect of this part of the contract and the current investigations relate to arriving at a definitive figure for the balance of the amount that is payable under this heading.
