asked the Minister for Finance the rivers on which drainage works are now being carried out by the Office of Public Works; the number of people employed on this aspect of the office's work; the new rivers on which drainage works are likely to be initiated in the next five years.

The Commissioners of Public Works employ 505 operatives on the construction of the Boyne, Maigue, Corrib-Mask-Robe, Boyle, Bonet and Monaghan Blackwater drainage schemes. Pending the outcome of a review of arterial drainage it is not possible to say what drainage schemes might be commenced in the next five years.
