The information requested by the Deputy is shown on the following tabular statement. The information provided on consultant staffing does not fully reflect consultant obstetrician-gynaecologists and paediatricians in each health board area as there are 47 consultant obstetricians-gynaecologists and 31 consultant paediatricians employed in non-statutory hospitals throughout the country. A number of health boards have devised local arrangements so that consultants employed in one hospital or health board catchment area have commitments in another area.
