Vol. 367 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Cork Schools.

177.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to provide new primary schools at Ballygarvan and Ballyheeda in the parish of Ballinhassig, County Cork to replace the existing inadequate and antiquated schools.

Sketch plans for the proposed new national school building at Ballygarvan, County Cork have been approved by my Department and are to be sent to the school authorities shortly so that they may apply for local authority planning permission. Contract documents for the proposed new national school building at Ballyheeda, County Cork, have been completed and my Department has under consideration the question of inviting tenders for the project. A decision on the matter will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible subject to the usual review of enrolment trends which is currently being undertaken. It is not possible at this stage to say when the new schools may be provided.
