Vol. 367 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Wexford Coastal Erosion.

85.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that there is a very serious coastal erosion problem at Cullenstown, County Wexford, where over the past six years three acres have been lost to the sea and that the position is getting worse; and the remedial action he intends to carry out to ensure that there will be no further erosion in the area.

The Coast Protection Act, 1963, provides that the Commissioners of Public Works may undertake examinations of coast erosion problems only in response to specific proposals, made by local authorities, in accordance with the provisions of the Act. No such proposal has been made in respect of Cullenstown, County Wexford.
