Vol. 367 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drogheda Employment Exchange.

134.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if she is aware of the very serious problem which exists at the employment exchange in Drogheda, County Louth, due to the substantial increase in social welfare recipients; the plans she has to extend the building; when work will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

It is accepted that there is a need to increase accommodation at the employment exchange, Drogheda having regard to the increased number of persons claiming unemployment payments at that office. Design plans for an extension to the premises have already been prepared by the Office of Public Works and every effort is being made to ensure that the project gets under way as early as possible.
