Vol. 367 No. 1

Written Answers. - EC Aid for Casein Production.

145.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the up-to-date position in respect of the level of EC aid being paid on casein; if he has failed to make the necessary case for realignment of the level of aid paid; and his views on the difficulty for casein manufacturer because of the low level of refund.

Following strong pressure on my part, the level of EC aid for casein production has been increased from £2,490 to £2,710 per tonne with effect from 2 June. So far this year casein production has been well up to last year's record level.
