Vol. 367 No. 8

Written Answers. - Donegal Roads.

25.

asked the Minister for the Environment the total motor tax returns for County Donegal for each of the years 1982 to 1985; and the total expenditure on roads during the same periods by (a) the State and (b) the EC.

The total revenue collected by the Donegal motor tax office was £2.2 million in 1982, £2.9 million in 1983, £3.5 million in 1984 and £3.9 million in 1985.

State road grants paid to Donegal County Council for the corresponding years amounted to £5.2 million, £5.5 million, £5.5 million and £6.4 million respectively.

I have no direct ministerial responsibility regarding applications for aid from the European Community in respect of roads. Details of EC expenditure in respect of roads in County Donegal in this period are not available in my Department.
