Vol. 367 No. 8

Written Answers. - Insurance For Children's Parks.

39.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has any proposals to alleviate the problem of insurance for children's parks etc., many of which are in the process of being closed as in the case (detailed supplied) and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick East): I understand that there have been claims in two of the cases and that this has given rise to problems. I have asked my Department to take up the cases with the insurers concerned. For one of the children's parks it has not been possible to identify the insurer. If the Deputy has any further information on this perhaps he can contact my Department.

I should point out that, while the cases will be investigated to see if the problems can be resolved, I cannot compel an insurer to take on any particular risk or to charge a particular premium. This must be left to the insurer's commercial judgment.
