Vol. 367 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Galway By-Laws.

45.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will make a decision regarding by-laws for an area (details supplied) in County Galway; his views on the serious difficulties being encountered by the people of the area due to present illegal occupation of this area; if he will take immediate action on this matter and make an immediate decision; and if he will make a statement on this urgent public matter.

Galway County Council were advised by letter from my Department on 27 May 1986 that if the local authority is prepared to forward a letter to my Department containing a commitment that they will provide alternative accommodation for the travelling families normally resident in the Abbey Trinity car park in Tuam, a letter will issue to the county council enclosing confirmed by-laws.

I understand that my Department's letter of 27 May is on the agenda for consideration by the members of the council at their meeting on 13 June 1986.
