Vol. 367 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tuam (Galway) Water Scheme.

90.

asked the Minister for the Environment the progress made by him in conjunction with Galway County Council for the up-grading and improvement of the water supply to Tuam town, County Galway; if he is aware that the people of Tuam have been victims of a very bad water supply for a very long period of time; if he will make an immediate decision to direct both his Department and Galway County Council to put the necessary funds and resources into improving the Tuam water supply; the amount of money that will be made available; the exact proposals that will be implemented as a result of the preliminary report which was submitted to him on 29 May 1985; his findings on this report; and if he will make a statement on this serious matter.

A preliminary report in respect of the Tuam regional water supply scheme submitted by Galway County Council is under consideration in my Department. I am not yet in a position to indicate when a decision will issue on this report.
