Vol. 368 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in County Waterford has been refused a pre-1940 £5,000 grant for reconstruction to the basic fabric of his home; and if he will arrange for a further inspection of the dwelling house to take place.

The approval of the special grant for the repair and reconstruction of a pre-1940 dwelling did not arise in this case because the estimated cost of the relevant works was less than the qualifying threshold of £4,000 provided for in the scheme. A repair grant of £1,241 representing two-thirds of the estimated cost of £1,862 has been approved together with maximum grants of £2,000 and £800 in respect of the building of an extension and the provision of a bathroom respectively. In the circumstances it is not necessary to arrange a further inspection at this stage.
