Vol. 368 No. 1

Written Answers. - Income Tax Rebate.

89.

asked the Minister for Finance how a tax rebate for 1984-85 paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick was calculated.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer's husband died on 22 June 1984. Details of his pay and tax for 1984-85 to the date of death were subsequently supplied by his former employer on a form P45 (cessation certificate) and, on the basis of those details, a tax refund amounting to £20.13 was issued to the taxpayer as personal representative on 20 January, 1986.

The Inspector of Taxes has now been in communication with the former employer and it has transpired that the details of pay and tax shown on the form P45 were incorrect. The correct figures have now been obtained from the employer and a cheque in settlement of the additional refund of £102.36 due will be issued to the taxpayer as soon as possible.
